Cherry Bomb Charmers Book Local Author as Sponsor
The Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team is pleased to introduce Jacksonville-based author J.B. Wolfe as a "Pivot" level sponsor for their 2014 roller derby bouting season.
- Jacksonville, FL (1888PressRelease) February 28, 2014 - The Cherry Bomb Charmers, the premier nonprofit junior roller derby team of Orange Park, announced today that J.B. Wolfe, local author and long-time roller derby fan, has been named an official league sponsor for the 2014 roller derby bouting season. Wolfe's pledge of support was received three weeks prior to the Charmers' 2014 season opener, which will be held in Brunswick, Georgia. The March 16th roller derby bout, entitled "Coming of Rage", will be the first of the season for the Cherry Bomb Charmers and will allow junior skaters to showcase the skills they have developed since joining the team.
"I'm truly grateful for this opportunity to help support this wonderful group of young ladies," Wolfe said regarding his donation to the Cherry Bomb Charmers. "It's really been fantastic to watch these girls mature as athletes in a tough sport. Their determination, hard work, and courage are awe-inspiring and I want to support that any way that I can." Wolfe is the father of Charmers skater Wednesday At'Emz, and also volunteers as an assistant coach for the team under the tutelage of Head Coach Darren Hickey.
Jacksonville writer J.B. Wolfe is the author of Squeeze and Waite for Midnight. Both novels are published by Melange Books and are available for purchase at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other online retailers. J.B. has been an artist, an infantry paratrooper, and a railroader - traveling throughout the American south before finally settling down to bring his pen to bear on paper. His work very often blurs the lines that separate hero and villain, baring the tenebrous humanity in the characters that he writes. The goal of the Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team is to encourage young skaters to realize their full potential and to empower them to become courageous young women, radiating confidence on and off the track. As a Charmer, junior derby skaters learn lifelong team-building skills. Skaters learn strength and independence, all the while celebrating their own individuality and unique identity in an atmosphere of sisterhood and family-like stewardship.
