  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 31, 2010 - NYC Mom and Chef, Antoinette Willard-Young is wasting no time becoming the new go-to-chef for keeping New York's children healthy and happy. On September 11, 2010, Chef Toni's Cooking Academy and Holton Farms will host its 1st annual Farm-To-Table awareness event at the West Side Family Center. "The Association To Benefit Children" will award cooking academy scholarships to five deserving children.

In addressing obesity in our children, Chef Toni believes that the cooking academy's philosophy "teach children the origin and natural seasons of foods" will empower them to make healthier eating choices. She demonstrates kitchen safety, basic cooking skills and healthy cooking techniques. While fostering key areas of development such as socialization, and task-completion, she introduces the basics of nutrition through imaginative culinary adventures.

Holton Farms equally shares a passion in combating rising health issues among children in under-served neighborhoods. They are endeavoring to bring healthier meals in our intercity schools and to foster cost efficient awareness in food choices within low-income families. Holton Farms will provide its fresh fruits and vegetables for the event.

Beautiful South African born Master chef Toni Willard-Young along with a few of her top "junior" chefs will play host to an amazing red carpet, farm-to-table event. The event will include a first hand look inside this spectacular cooking academy. Guests will enjoy a demonstration by Chef Toni featuring fun and easy ways to prepare nutritious and tasteful meals. Food tasting, complimentary hors' d oeuvres, and fun-filled activities for children will make this event enjoyable for the entire family. Other guests participating in the event include top New York chefs, food professionals, New York politicians, celebrities, as well as supporters and friends of "The Association To Benefit Children". Guests will have the pleasure of receiving gift bags filled with great products from some of the event's many sponsors, which include cosponsor Holton Farms, Hint Water, giggle, We Love Colors, Baked By Melissa, and Ophelia's.

Chef Toni will be presenting scholarships to five (5) underprivileged children from "The Association To Benefit Children's" organization. These scholarship recipients will attend the cooking academy's after school program for the entire year.

With back to school just around the corner, Chef Toni's Cooking Academy aims to get a head start on educating NYC children and families how to cook, eat, and enjoy food in a healthy and nutritious way.
