Cheer Channel's 2013 Superstars of All Stars
Cheer Channel announces the All Star cheerleaders named to this prestigious group. The 2013 Superstars of All Stars are the second class of cheerleaders awarded this honor.

(CCI), the #1 online news and entertainment network for the spirit industry, announced today the list of finalists that will be recognized as its second annual Superstars of All Stars™ 2013. The 2013 team of Superstars are: Maison Baker, Kristen Basquill, Holden Ray, Kelcie Burch, Jamie Andries, Carly Manning, Taylor Minchew, Whitney Sharpe, Dee Temples, and Taylor VanDemark. The inaugural class of Superstars of All Stars™ 2012 included Maddie Gardner, Cami Branson, Kelsey Rule, Erica Engelbert, Kiara Nowlin, Whitney Love, Bianca Treger, and Gabi Butler.
The Cheer Channel Board of Directors, along with a committee of industry experts, handpicked the Superstars out of a large pool of nominees. Candidates were selected and finalists chosen based on their ability to meet a very high set of standards both as an athlete and as a person. These standards include outstanding talent, commitment, dedication, physical skill, leadership, fan support and interaction, personality, respect of teammates and coaches, social skills on and off the mat, academic achievements, and community involvement. "It is with great pride that we select these young women and men who best represent the All Star cheerleading industry as role models and athletes, and emphasize the meaning of ''spirit'' in our industry," said Cindy Villarreal, Cheer Channel CEO.
Maison Baker is a flyer for the Maryland Twisters Black Ice. She began cheerleading when she was 5 years old for the Gulf Coast Storm in Pensacola, FL and has since cheered for Mandeville Allstars, SoCal Elite Outlaws, California Allstars, and Maryland Twisters. Maison has also been a member of the South River High School Varsity cheer squad since her freshman year. Maison is a former Cheersport Champion, 2-time High School Cheerleading State Champion, 3-time Worlds competitor, and a guest star on CCI''s Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader 2: The Fierce One. Maison also plans to graduate high school a year early and go on to a collegiate cheerleading career.
Kristen "Kat" Basquill Kristen "Kat" Basquill is a flyer and tumbler for the Maryland Twisters F5. Kat got her start in gymnastics at the age of 5 and continued on to competitive cheerleading at KX Athletics where she cheered for 9 years. She is now in her second season with the Twisters. Kat is a 2012 Worlds Silver Medalist, 2013 Cheersport National Champion, Finalist for The Cheer Leader Magazine''s "Cheerleader of the Year," Advocate for Pennies in Action Charity, and a guest star on CCI''s Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader 2: The Fierce One. Kat''s best advice to young cheerleaders is to be a good role model and never let anybody dull your shine.
Holden Ray is a base and tumbler for Cheer Extreme Senior CoEd Elite. Holden got his stars in gymnastics when he was 8 years old and began cheering at Southern Spirit Unlimited and Southern Impact Allstars. In 2008 he made the move to Cheer Extreme and has since been a 2-time NCA National Champion, 2-time Nfinity Legend, 2011 Worlds Silver Medalist, 2012 Majors Champion, Cheerlebrity Judge, and a guest star on CCI''s Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader 2: The Fierce One. Holden enjoys cheering for coach Courtney Smith-Pope and his current role model is Maddie Gardner. Holden also took up competitive diving and is a member of his High School team.
Kelcie Burch is a flyer for Maryland Twisters F5 and started her cheer career at age 8 at a local gym, Huntingtown Hurricanes. At age 12 she switched to the Maryland Superstarz and 2 years later made the Twisters F5 with her sister. Her first year on F5 in 2011 her team won the Gold Medal at Worlds, then in 2012 they won the Silver Medal and in 2013 they were Cheersport National Champions. The people that Kelcie looks up to most are her coaches, Tara Cain and True Hall because they are inspirational and encouraging and have helped her become the cheerleader she is today.
Jamie Andries is a flyer for Cheer Athletics Cheetahs and has been cheering for 9 years, 7 of which have been with Cheer Athletics. Jamie is also a member of her Varisty High School squad and is a former NCA Champion, World Champion, Majors Champion, and NCA and UCA All American. Jamie''s best advice to young cheerleaders is to never give up on your goals and dreams because with the right attitude and hard work, anything is possible.
Carly Manning is a flyer, tumbler and center dancer for the Cheer Athletics Panthers. Carly got her start cheering when she was 5 at a small gym called Paramount Comets. At age 8, she moved to Cheer Athletics and double teamed for Bengels (junior level 5) and Jags (small senior level 5), and attended her first World Championships. Carly is a 2009, 2011, and 2012 World Champion, 5-time NCA National Champion, and 2 time NCA Grand Champion. Along with cheer, Carly plays volleyball and runs track for her high school.The toughest challenge Carly has overcome in cheer has been a series of injuries in the 2011 season, but she was able to push through and become a World Champion.
Taylor Minchew is a flyer ("with awesome bases") for Cheer Extreme Senior Elite. Taylor began cheerleading when she was 7 at Lake Mary Allstars in Florida, then moved to Cheer Extreme in North Carolina. She has been with CEA for 5 years and is a 2012 World Champion, 2011 Worlds Silver Medalist, 2013 Majors Silver Medalist, 3-time NCA National Champion, 5-time Cheersport National Champion, and The Cheer Leader Magazine''s "Rising Star" and contributor. Taylor''s best advice to young cheerleaders is to go beyond what is required at practice by stretching and conditioning at home. She also runs track at her high school to stay in shape year round.
Whitney Sharpe is a flyer for East Celebrity Elite International Open CoEd Level 5. Whitney got her start with Pop Warner when she was 8 and transitioned to cheer at East Elite the next year where she made her way from youth level 1 up to International Open Level 5. Along with cheer, Whitney has been a ballet dancer for many years. Whitney was on the Inside Cheerleading Magazine "All American Team" in 2012, and is a 3-time MA State Champion, 2012 NCA Runner Up, 2012 UCA Champion, and was top 10 at the 2012 Cheerleading Worlds. Whitney''s best advice to young cheerleaders is to have a life outside of the cheer gym, volunteer in your community, join another sport, and have fun while you''re a kid.
Dee Temples is a flyer for the A-Towne Allstars Legends Senior Large CoEd Level 5. Dee started cheering when she was 4 on a minis team. Most of her cheer career has been with Atlanta Jayhawks and ATA. Dee attended Worlds in 2012 and will attend Worlds in 2013, was one of Inside Cheerleading''s Most Valuable Cheer Stars in 2010, nominated to IC''s Junior All American Team in 2012, and is the spokesperson for CCI''s Anti-Bullying Campaign. Dee is also actively involved in her community, hosting charity events, and is a member of numerous academic honors and clubs including Dean''s List, Mu Alpha Theta, and Student Council President and Treasurer.
Taylor VanDemark is a tumbler, base and backspot for Top Gun Lady Jags and YOSO5. Taylor started her cheer career at age 5 with Top Gun and has been with them ever since. She is a 2012 NCA National Champion, 2012 UCA International Champion, 6-time COA National Champion, and COA Grand Champion. Taylor performs the first and last tumbling pass, and is a backspot, side base and main base. She is in the Gifted Cambridge Program at Keys Gate Charter School and says that her toughest obstacle is balancing 2 level 5 cheer teams while maintaining exceptional grades.
