Charles Communication Group Partners With UCLA For Reparations Task Force Project
Task Force Studies The Lingering Effects On Living African Americans after Slavery.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2022 - Charles Communication Group (CCG) has been selected to spearhead the communications efforts for UCLA’s Task Force Reparations project. CCG will be tasked with developing comprehensive communications plans and strategy development, including special events designed for public outreach, media relations, and media outreach.
The goal of CCG in partnership with the Task Force is to ensure all residents of California are aware of this initiative, understand why it is important to the community and how it will help close the disparities often faced by communities of color. The Task Force has recently completed a study and released the interim report which provided recommendations for policies that could be adopted to address the harm experienced by African Americans.
On September 30, 2022, Assembly Bill 3121 (AB 3121) was enacted by the Task Force to study the lingering effects on living African Americans, including descendants of people enslaved in the United States, educate California residents and recommend appropriate remedies.

The Task Force consists of nine members from diverse backgrounds who have experience working to implement racial justice reform. The members are, Senator Steven Bradford, Dr. Amos C. Brown, Vice-Chair, Dr. Cheryl Grills, Lisa Holder, Assemblymember Reginald Jones-Sawyer, Dr. Jovan Scott Lewis, Kamilah Moore, Chair, Councilmember Monica Montgomery Steppe, and Donald K. Tamaki.
