- Las Vegas, NV-AZ (1888PressRelease) May 14, 2013 - Sioux Falls native Charles Brennan was the host of a week's worth of grand opening performances for the nonprofit Brennan Rock & Roll Academy. As a former music industry executive and current CEO of Dollar Loan Center, Charles Brennan was able to enlist a number of his famous friends for the event, which helped bring in over a million dollars for the Boys & Girls Club of the Sioux Empire.
Among the surprises Charles Brennan was able to line up was a guest appearance by longtime KISS frontman Gene Simmons, capping the series of performances by some of the biggest names in rock and roll. With Charles Brennan in the audience, Simmons teamed up with Vince Neal from Motley Crue and Stephen Pearcy from Ratt, sitting in on a Saturday night show with rock tribute band Hairball. "That was a night I will never forget," commented Charles Brennan. "Up on stage were three of my all-time heroes of rock and roll, and they all put in once-in-a-lifetime gifts for the auction that raised over $100,000 in just a few minutes time." According to Charles Brennan, Simmons was gracious enough to invite four people to his house for dinner and donated $20,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Charles Brennan also noted that the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy was host to crowd-pleasing performances for both rock and comedy fans. The event featured the band Night Ranger, 70s favorite Alice Cooper and comedian George Lopez, among others. The small venue meant that 300 fans were able to see the star-studded show in a surprisingly intimate setting.
This week was successful in not only raising money for the academy, but also giving visitors a feel for the facility itself, stated Charles Brennan. Designed for Boys & Girls Club members from ages 6 through 17, the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy will offer kids a place to learn the ropes of rock and roll, with Charles Brennan as the center's founder and namesake.
Joining Night Ranger, Gene Simmons and Alice Cooper were Sebastian Bach and Joey Allan of Warrant, the Doors' Robby Krieger, and Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer of KISS. Charles Brennan made a $250,000 donation to set up the academy, along with a pledge to help support the program financially for the next two decades. It's a $3.6 million commitment, which will keep the academy running for 20 years, reported Charles Brennan.
Charles Brennan is founder and CEO of Dollar Loan Center, with 80 locations across South Dakota, Nevada, Utah and California. Charles Brennan is also a longtime fan of rock and roll, having been the owner/operator of the Blitz Ballroom, one of the largest rock and roll concert venues in the Midwest. Charles Brennan and Dollar Loan Center are also regular contributors to charities like Little League and the Boys & Girls Clubs.
