- (1888PressRelease) November 18, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - At a time when reduced state funding continues to challenge the Los Angeles City College District, a charity luncheon that featured a fashion show from Designer Ali Rahimi for Mon Atelier raised over $10,000 for the district. Proceeds from the event benefit The Douglas Blasdell Outreach Program in association with non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c) (3) Los Angeles City College Foundation. The funds raised will support HIV awareness, education and prevention programs and provide scholarships for deserving students.
The luncheon took place at The Regency Club in Westwood, Calif. and was well attended by guests including singer-songwriter, Jody Watley; Owner of the Beverly Hills Four Season Hotel, Beverly Cohen; Councilwoman Jan Perry; and Patricia Kelly, wife of the late Gene Kelly. Guests were captivated by Rahimi's custom-made designs that ranged from cocktail dresses to formal gowns fit for holiday galas or red-carpet, all made with the finest quality fabrics and with Rahimi's close attention to detail. The fashion show began with black and white suits, gowns and separates and streamed into a neutral and metallic palette. Jewel-toned designs and three handmade wedding gowns demonstrating Rahimi's exquisite craftsmanship concluded the show.
Gift certificates for Rahimi's custom designs and other fashion accessories were included in the silent auction, along with products and services from Skin Expert Nerida Joy, who also attended the event. The only facialist among 50 dermatologists to be listed as a "skin expert," Joy has performed over 50,000 facials over the last 32 years and has a client list that includes Jennifer Garner, Kate Beckinsale, Courteney Cox Arquette, Tyra Banks, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Aniston and many other famous faces.
Rahimi's own clientele is a Hollywood Who's Who. He has dressed top celebrities such as Jane Lynch (most recently for the Emmys), Anjelica Huston, Mary Hart, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Amy Adams, Vanessa Williams and many others. Rahimi also designs wedding gowns and evening attire, tuxedos and other distinctive garments and accessories for men and women, including informal pieces, such as the iconic pink suit worn by Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde 2."
