- (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - On November 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., The Douglas Blasdell Outreach Program in association with non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) Los Angeles City College Foundation will host a charity luncheon featuring a fashion show from designer Ali Rahimi for Mon Atelier at The Regency Club in Westwood, 10900 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, Calif. The event will help raise money for HIV awareness, education and prevention programs and provide scholarships for deserving students.
Los Angeles City College (LACC) is the flagship institution of the Los Angeles Community College District. Reduced state funding continues to challenge LACC District as the colleges educate 73% of the state's citizens, yet receives only 12% of the per-student dollars for higher education. "Education is a priority - and this program helps meet the needs of some very worthy students," says designer Ali Rahimi.
Attendees will have the opportunity to see Rahimi's designs, ranging from cocktail dresses to red carpet gowns. Each design is made with the finest quality fabrics and materials and demonstrates impeccable attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship that is rarely found today. Rahimi's couture designs are perfected through multiple fittings and the nearly lost art of hand finishing. At the fundraising event, Mon Atelier will auction off gift certificates for custom designs created by Rahimi at his salon and other fashion accessories, all to benefit the LACC.
In his 20 years designing in Los Angeles, Rahimi has dressed A-List celebrities such as Jane Lynch (most recently for the Emmys), Sharon Gless, Anjelica Huston, Mary Hart, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Amy Adams, Vanessa Williams and many others. Rahimi also designs tuxedos and other distinctive garments and accessories for men and women. In addition to elegant wedding gowns and evening attire, Rahimi creates more informal pieces, such as the iconic pink suit worn by Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde 2."
