Charities purchase SonoSite M-Turbo(R) ultrasound systems for Queen Elizabeth II Hospital
Price, portability and ease of use all helped to make the SonoSite M-Turbo an easy choice for the Vicky Adkins Breast Unit at the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.
- (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2011 - The Vicki Adkins Breast Unit at the Queen Elizabeth II (QE II) Hospital in Welwyn Garden City is benefitting from three SonoSite M-Turbo point-of-care ultrasound systems. Consultant Breast Surgeon at the QE II, Mr Peter Crane, explained: "Previously, we relied on three much older instruments - from three different manufacturers - to supplement the service we received from radiology. We needed to upgrade these systems and, through the Hertfordshire Breast Unit Appeal and the Hospital's League of Friends, were able to buy three M-Turbo ultrasound systems."
"Price, portability and ease-of-use were the three things that really attracted us to SonoSite. We hadn't appreciated just how good the MTurbo system's image quality was - it is dramatically better than our previous machines - allowing nonradiology specialists to perform diagnostic ultrasound with increased confidence. Patients can be diagnosed more rapidly and leave their initial consultation knowing what the results of their ultrasound are likely to be, often having received immediate reassurance and peace of mind. The M-Turbo is straightforward to use, and having three identical instruments is a big advantage to the Breast Unit, as users only need to be familiar with one system. Performing ultrasound in the clinic has also reduced the demands on radiology and, six months after purchasing the M-Turbos, I can honestly say that we have no regrets whatsoever."
