chainbooks-- A writing program that allows authors from all around the world to work together to author a novel
chainbooks.com offers a library of starter chapters written by authors from countries all over the world. Users are able to create free accounts, log on to the website, and browse chapters. They can then select a book to write in and write the next available chapter. The website, www.chainbooks.com, recently launched and has been receiving subsequent chapters on a daily basis.
- Knoxville, TN (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2012 - A new free interactive social networking website for writers was introduced in January that will allow people from various backgrounds and writing skill levels (from Beginners to Professionals) to participate in a free round-robin writing program.
chainbooks, developed and founded by Greg Humphrey, will allow users on the internet to have the opportunity to write a single chapter of a book that is co-authored by people all over the world. The company currently has a Library of over 5,000 books with the first chapter completed. The first chapter of every book has been written by a chainbooks approved author. Users will be able to select their favorite style of writing, their writing level and where in the book they wish to participate. After reading the chapters written before them in available books, chainbooks members will be able to add their unique and creative words to the manuscript. Each user can only write one chapter per book and there are limits to the amount of words. The books are completely free to write in and there is an opportunity to purchase the books when they are completed. The company is initially seeking additional authors to build the list of available books as well as authors to add to the existing books in progress. The writers of the first chapter will receive royalty/compensation when the book that they started sells on the website, www.chainbooks.com.
"The uniqueness of chainbooks is that we will be joining together the minds of people potentially all over the world in a collaborative effort to complete books every day," said Humphrey. "We won't change what twists and turns people add to the stories, it will depend on the next writer as to what happens as the book progresses. When twenty-four or so chapters are completed, the book is finished by one of the users and then we publish it for all to enjoy. One of the best features is that writing in a chainbooks book is completely free."
There are fourteen different genres to choose from, and each user has five days to complete their chapter of up to 3,000 words. Users will establish their writing skill level, but will only be able to write at their own level of expertise, ranging from Beginner to Professional. The paperback books will be printed and ready for distribution in less than three weeks after completion and can be purchased on line at the chainbooks website and eventually through iBooks, Kindle and other electronic methods.
chainbooks hopes that people experiment with their creative side by using the site as well. A special practice page has been developed so that users can upload test chapters and solicit comments from friends, family and other users.
"We want to help write a new chapter in literacy. We think this is a creative way to make the art of writing not only fun, but it brings the writing experience to a social environment that has never happened before," Humphrey stated.
The project has been nearly two years in development. A version is currently being introduced to the educational system and will be available later this year.
