Volk, AIA, NCARB, project manager at the firm, has received his architecture license from the American Institute of Architects. This achievement will not only bring additional responsibility to his current role as project manager, but will add to his level of professional credibility as well. A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Volk received a bachelor's degree in architecture from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and a master's degree in architecture from NC State University. He worked as an intern architect with JL Bender Architects and Planners in Columbus, as well as with Davis Kane Architects in Raleigh, where he fulfilled his intern development program requirement. Prior to joining SfL+a Architects, Volk served as an independent contractor with Omega Design Architecture in Cary, N.C., and project manager with Moseley Architects in Morrisville, N.C. Active in the local business community, Volk is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB), the Young Architects Forum, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, and is co-chair for the 2012 and 2013 AIA Triangle Tour of Residential Architecture.
