New York City Chad Ian Lieberman says Giant floating turbines are among some technologies being investigated to harness ocean wave power for electricity generation.
Chad Ian Lieberman New York Talks on Ocean Hydropower
(1888PressRelease) January 05, 2016 - "We are all familiar with hydropower, but until now, it has only been used by harnessing flowing water through dam construction. Rivers dry up, or wane according to weather conditions, which makes them a fluctuating power source.
"However, we are now looking at technology being used to harness the power of the one water body that is here to stay - the ocean." These were SEO expert, entrepreneur and futurist Chad Lieberman's opening remarks during a technology convention held in New York City recently.
The main topic of discussion was the on-going design of hydroelectric turbines which can be powered by the ocean. At the moment, the company closest to achieving this is Blue Energy Canada, which is about to commercialize its turbine.
Mr. Chad Ian Lieberman described the turbine stating that it harnesses the energy produced by ocean current to generate electricity in the usual way carried out with dams. Presently, the company has already negotiated and signed power purchase agreements with New Zealand, India and Indonesia.
Another technology being explored off the Scottish coast by Pelam is Wave is that of floating turbines. According to Mr. Lieberman, this technology harnesses the power of ocean waves to generate electricity, and is also a technology that shows great promise for the future.
"We are headed towards a future where decisive action must be taken in order to stay relevant as well as preserve the environment. If ocean power were harnessed, we'd be able to generate far more electricity as well as reduce the cost of energy, allowing us to apply it in place of the more environmentally destructive forms of energy," he explained.
"Most of the technology we enjoy today arose during periods of great difficulty, the Public high school system, railroad tracks, among others. Economic difficulty inspires innovation, and we're looking at a greater future in the face of current technological advancements," Mr. Chad Lieberman asserted.
In concluding, Mr. Chad Ian Lieberman explained that once these giant turbines are in place, we could expect electricity shortages to be a thing of the past. These, he said, will pave the way for large scale adoption of electric-powered vehicles which emit less carbon and electric avenues, another futuristic technology.
