  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) January 20, 2018 - Significantly expanding its Southern California presence, Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3) announced today the addition of two new Los Angeles partners – David Alvarado and Eoin Gubbins – and special counsel Joseph von Meier, who will be based in San Diego. To accommodate its rapidly growing platform in California, the firm – which specializes in commercial real estate law – recently relocated its L.A. office from Brentwood to larger offices at the Tower located at 10940 Wilshire Blvd in Westwood.

Alvarado was most recently a partner at Elkins Kalt Weintraub Reuben Gartside LLP in Los Angeles. Gubbins joins CGS3 from Santa Monica-based Harding Larmore Kutcher & Kozal, LLP, where he was senior counsel and von Meier was previously a partner with prominent Chicago law firm Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C.

"All three of these lawyers are instrumental to achieving our goal of being the preeminent commercial real estate law firm in California and beyond," said CGS3 partner Sean Southard. "Each brings years of experience in getting deals done and broad practice skills to our team that complement our unwavering commitment to providing our clients with an unparalleled experience – we’re thrilled to bring them onboard."

Alvarado has built a successful commercial real estate practice focusing on purchase and sale, debt and equity financing, development, construction and leasing transactions. He has broad-based experience across all asset classes and property types, from retail and residential to office, industrial and raw land. David also advises clients regarding day-to-day operational matters and property management issues. He graduated summa cum laude from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with his bachelor’s degree and earned a J.D. from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.

With a more than 10-year background in representing publicly traded REITs, large developers and smaller property owners on projects throughout the Western United States, Gubbins has negotiated and documented complex purchase and sale agreements and commercial leases and counsels clients on day-to-day real estate management. He holds an LL.M. from University of Dublin, Trinity College School of Law, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Limerick's School of Law. He is member of the Irish American Bar Association and is licensed in both New York and California.

Representing clients nationwide, von Meier has handled a wide range of high profile, complex deals – with a focus on student housing, multi-family, luxury residential and retail – and is particularly adept at forming joint ventures, corporations and partnerships for the purpose of investing in and developing property. He is admitted to the bar in Illinois, Wisconsin and California and holds his bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Michigan and earned a J.D, cum laude, from University of Wisconsin.
