CESI Debt Solutions Joins in National "Save the Dream" Event

(1888PressRelease) June 07, 2011 - Raleigh, NC - ESI Debt Solutions, a Raleigh, NC-based national nonprofit credit counseling agency and a HUD-Approved housing counseling agency, teamed up with the national Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America to bring borrowers and bankers face to face and find new ways to avoid foreclosures.
NACA sponsored the four day workshop, titled "Save the Dream" at the Raleigh Convention Center from May 12th through May 15th. NACA is holding similar events across the country to assist borrowers/consumers who are facing mortgage delinquency and foreclosure.

During the workshop, borrowers attend an orientation session and then speak with a housing counselor as well as a loan servicer. Major mortgage servicers including Bank of America and Wells Fargo were on hand to help arrange loan modifications. In some cases, borrowers can have their payments lowered by a third and lock in significantly lower rates.

E. Dawkins of Raleigh saw her payment drop from $1200 to $869 dollars per month and her interest rate dropped permanently from 7% to 4%.

"We're pleased to be able to join with NACA and help people hang onto the American dream of homeownership," says Sheryl Merritt, Housing Program Manager with The Homeownership Center, a part of CESI Debt Solutions. "In many cases, people are facing mortgage delinquency because of an unforeseen crisis in their lives such as a medical emergency or job loss. There are programs that can help people hold onto their house while they get their particular situations resolved."

Counselors with The Homeownership Center used the workshop to educate borrowers about The North Carolina Foreclosure Prevention Trust Fund, which is available to help unemployed borrowers with their mortgage payments for up to 24 months or $24,000.
