Ceram Publishes New White Paper 'Driving Up Profits and Reducing Emissions: The Benefits of ISO 50001'
Ceram, an international materials technology company, has published a new white paper 'Driving Up Profits and Reducing Emissions: The Benefits of ISO 50001'.
- (1888PressRelease) June 30, 2012 - The cost of energy has been steadily rising over the past decade, in part due to the introduction of environmental taxes but also as a result of volatile international markets as oil and natural gas reserves diminish.
ISO 50001 is the new international standard for energy management. It provides a framework and guidance to monitor, manage and potentially reduce energy consumption.
The paper examines how implementing and certifying an ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) can: maximise energy efficiency and minimise wastage, identify energy and cost savings, manage risk, reduce carbon emissions, enhance brand reputation, demonstrate an environmental commitment and integrate with other management standards. In addition, the paper also examines what the standard entails and details organisations that have been early adopters of the scheme.
The paper's author, Joe Flanagan, Principal Consultant, Sustainability, at Ceram, commented:
"Energy management is a high priority for many organisations, especially energy-intensive manufacturers. Adopting ISO 50001 ensures best practice energy management is embedded into an organisation, thus aiding continuous improvement on many levels, particularly energy efficiency and cost savings."
