Center for Autism and Related Disorders Opens State-of-the-Art Assessment Center in Woodland Hills, Open House on May 22
The CARD Assessment Center Open House will be held on Wednesday, May 22 to allow individuals the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the assessment team, learn what services are offered and tour the new location.

The center will provide assessments and consultations for children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of disorders. The Open House will be held on Wednesday, May 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 6330 Variel Ave., Suite 102 in Woodland Hills. It will provide families and professionals with an opportunity to meet one-on-one with the assessment team and tour the facility.
Assessments are administered to diagnose or rule out developmental disabilities or to establish a baseline from which educational programs can be derived. Some conditions which may require assessments are autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), memory disorder, language disorder, learning disability, and intellectual giftedness.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in every 88 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with an ASD, and a new survey suggests that as many as 1 in every 50 children may be diagnosed with ASD, making it more prevalent than juvenile diabetes, pediatric cancer and childhood AIDS combined.
"While CARD focuses primarily on individuals with autism spectrum disorders, the Assessment Center works with a variety of individuals and provides a broad range of assessments, including gifted assessment and memory disorder assessment," said director of the assessment center, Evelin Garcia, PsyD. "Parents and professionals are encouraged to attend the open house for a chance to ask questions and learn more about what the Assessment Center has to offer."
The CARD Assessment Center provides developmental assessments and consultations for children, adolescents, and young adults. Individuals are assessed through the use of standardized tests and procedures which evaluate the many areas of functioning. The Assessment Center professionals can test intelligence and achievement, as well as areas of function that impact performance in school, relationships with family and friends, and behaviors in the home and community. Developmental evaluations provide useful diagnostic and prognostic information for a wide variety of suspected and confirmed neurological and psychiatric disorders, and those evaluations can then be used to develop tailored treatment programs.
Speakers will include world-renowned clinical psychologist and CARD founder and CEO, Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh, which will be followed by presentations from the director of Assessment Center, Evelin Garcia, PsyD, and clinical director, Evelyn Kung, MA, BCBA.
