Center for Autism and Related Disorders Hosts Glendale Conference for Parents of Children with Special Needs, September 28th
Center for Autism and Related Disorders will co-host a free conference on Saturday, September 28th, at Christ Tabernacle from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., to help parents of special needs children understand how to access insurance coverage for autism, address challenging behaviors, find support as a parent of a special needs child, and be informed of their legal rights.

The free conference will offer seminars ranging from managing challenging behavior to accessing insurance coverage for autism treatment. Presentations include "Understanding NY Autism Insurance Reform" by CARD director of contracts Bryce Miler; "Understanding Your Rights as a Parent of a Child with Autism" by Christina Thivierge of the law firm, Thivierge & Rothberg; and "Functional Communication Training and Behavior Management" by CARD senior behavior therapist Nicole Valore, MS Ed, and CARD clinical lead manager Deidra King MA, MS, BCBA. The conference will also include a personal look at autism by Pastor Adam and Lucy Durso who will present "The Journey of Being a Parent of a Child with Autism."
