  • (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2011 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Celtic Pink Floyd, an arrangement of classic Pink Floyd songs with a Celtic rock twist releases March 17 - St. Patrick's Day. The album is a twelve-song compilation of popular Pink Floyd Songs utilizing traditional Celtic instruments, such as uilleann pipes, fiddle, tin whistle, accordion, as well as contemporary vocals, guitars, bass and drums.

Damon Stout & Brian Stout, arrangers, producers and musicians, created Celtic Pink Floyd after realizing that the original Floyd material was, according to Damon Stout, "at its core, quite folk-centric and would lend itself quite well to Celtic arrangements." The debut CD includes the tracks; Another Brick in the Wall Pt.2, Hey You, Money, The Fletcher Memorial Home, Wish You Were Here, Run Like Hell, Young Lust, On the Turning Away, Mother, Brain Damage, Comfortably Numb and One Of These Days. Emmy Award winning composer Damon Stout came up with the "so crazy, it just may work" idea after listening to the track On The Turning Away and had the Celtic envisioning revelation. The album is co-produced by Michael Vail Blum of Titan Music Inc. who has produced Madonna, Suicidal Tendencies, Goo Goo Dolls, Infectious Grooves, Pink Floyd, Bryan Ferry, and The Young Dubliners.

In addition to the Stout brothers' producing and arranging the material, they also sang, played guitar, bass, percussion, accordion, and tin whistle. The two gathered an accomplished array of Irish and non Irish musicians for their project, including Marian Tomas Griffin (vocals), Michael Kelly (vocals, fiddle, bodhrán and bones), Patrick D'Arcy (uilleann pipes, whistles, and bodhrán), Sam Morrison (vocals), Bob Boulding (acoustic and electric guitar), Pat Mac Swyney (mandolin and banjo), and Laura Solter, (vocals).

Celtic Pink Floyd's debut album is available for sale on March 17 as a CD or digital download on http://www.celticpinkfloyd.com/ and as a digital download on http://www.cdbaby.com/ then it will be available on iTunes and Amazon shortly after. Celtic Pink Floyd will donate a portion of the proceeds to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.
