- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 24, 2014 - Celebrated cellist Tina Guo records with a variety of film, TV, and video game composers for the album Composers for Charity. 100% of the proceeds from the digital album will be donated to the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation to support underfunded music in schools. Guo collaborated with 14 composers including Penka Kouneva (Primrose Lane), Neal Acree (Diablo III), and Austin Wintory (Journey). The album is available on iTunes and Loudr.fm.

Tina Guo has played with Cirque Du Soleil's Michael Jackson "The Immortal" World Tour, and appeared as a guest soloist with the San Diego Symphony, the State of Mexico National Symphony, Thessaloniki State Symphony in Greece, the Petrobras Symphony in Brazil, and the Vancouver Island Symphony in British Columbia. She appeared with the Tenerife Symphony and Choir to perform the "Batman: The Dark Knight" suite at the 2014 Fimucité Festival. Guo also performed with Johnny Marr of the Smiths and Hans Zimmer at the Inception premier. Guo is the featured cello soloist on many scores including Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Olympus Has Fallen, and the video game Journey, which received two BAFTA awards, a Video Game (VGX) award and a Grammy nomination. Guo is set to make an onscreen appearance on Showtime's Shameless next year, and will also perform on the episode.
The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation donates new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved schools in an effort to give youngsters the many benefits of music education, helping them to be better students and inspire creativity and expression through playing music. The organization was inspired by the 1995 motion picture Mr. Holland's Opus and founded by Michael Kamen, who composed the music for the movie and countless others.
