Celebrity Hockey Game to Support Claddagh Fund
It's Game On Basement Systems vs. Foundation Supportworrks.
- (1888PressRelease) April 25, 2012 - Plaistow, NH. Basement Systems New Hampshire is sponsoring a celebrity hockey game May 19th at 6:30 PM at the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury, MA in support of the Claddagh Fund, the charitable organization of the Dropkick Murphys. The public is invited to come watch the game and join the full slate of festivities beginning at 6PM.
Celebrity coaches, players and guests will be participating in the fun including Ken Casey, lead singer and bassist, along with other members of the Dropkick Murphys, Bruins legends Rick Middleton and Bob Sweeney, WAAF radio personality and former Bruins player, Lyndon Byers, and NECN meteorologist Nelly Carreno. More celebrities and surprise guests are being added daily.
Families will be able to skate for free from 6:30 to 7:30 on an adjacent rink, and youth hockey players and other kids ten and under get their chance on ice during intermissions. The party following the game will feature food and beverages, raffles, auctions, prizes and live entertainment.
The hockey game is the brainchild of Beth Murch, one of Basement Systems' key sales reps who has previously volunteered for the Claddagh Fund. While considering a friendly competitive hockey game among the sales team, Beth proposed the game as a charity event for the fund.
The Claddagh Fund was founded in 2009 by the Dropkick Murphys with a mission of raising awareness and funds for the most underfunded charities that support vulnerable populations in communities. Honoring the attributes of the Claddagh Ring of friendship, love and loyalty, efforts are focused in support of children's and veterans organizations and substance abuse recovery programs. (Claddagh? It's the Irish fishing village where the design and giving of the ring originated.)
