Celebrity entrepreneurs confirmed among the speakers for Ingenious Britain Live - the Festival of Small Business

  • (1888PressRelease) July 02, 2014 - Some of Britain's leading celebrity entrepreneurs are to join Emily Maitlis, broadcaster and newsreader, and other small business owners for Ingenious Britain Live!, the Festival of Small Business, in Birmingham at the start of September.

    Emily Maitlis will host panel discussions at the event, which is being staged in partnership with Western Union Business Solutions, in the cinema at Millennium Point on the two days of the event - Thursday September 4th and Friday September 5th. Other sponsors include American Express, Sage, Xero and KIA.

    Speakers will include the American-born businesswoman, model, actress and television personality Caprice Bourret, who runs her own business By Caprice Products, selling lingerie, swimwear, bedding and sleepwear internationally to retailers and department stores.

    She will be joined by Jo Fairley, co-founder of Green & Black's chocolate which is now approaching a £100million brand worldwide, who will talk on brand creation and development; Will King, who founded the King of Shaves brand in 1993, which has overtaken Wilkinson Sword and Nivea to become number two to Gillette in the shaving prep market in the UK; Graham Corfield, UK Managing Director of JUST-EAT.co.uk and a champion of SMEs, and Sara Murray, who founded the price comparison website confused.com and is a member of the British Government's Technology Strategy Board and Seedcamp - an organisation to jumpstart the entrepreneurial community in the UK and Europe.

    Other speakers are expected to be confirmed over the next few weeks.

    The event, which the organisers are informally calling a 'Glastonbury for small business', will feature inspirational guest speakers appearing on an open stage area, a ticket only theatre, numerous themed presentation rooms and even a giant projection screen for virtual-presentations. There will practical drop-in advice villages and training sessions covering critical small business issues ranging from tax advice and exporting to new markets to marketing and the exciting opportunities within the e-commerce arena.     "The whole look and feel of the event, not least in the choice of venue and speakers, will be very different from a conventional business conference or exhibition," explains Marlon Wolff, CEO of Ingenious Britain.
