  • (1888PressRelease) February 26, 2011 - At this year's CeBIT (1-5 March, Hannover), Zarafa, the leading European provider of open source groupware and collaboration software, will show that the Zarafa Collaboration Platform (ZCP) has grown to the European open source groupware standard. Customers and partners of Zarafa indicate that ZCP can be considered as the number one Microsoft Exchange replacement for email, calendaring, collaboration and tasks.

    Growth of customers and partners
In the last year, 30 of 100 city councils in the Benelux that opted for a new mail environment have migrated to the Zarafa Collaboration Platform, 60 to Microsoft Exchange, the remaining 10 have chosen different groupware.

Zarafa is also increasingly being adopted within the automotive industry. Peter Schuster, Head of ICT at PSW Automotive Engineering GmbH says: "Because of the important contacts to partners of automotive industries, we have to work with Outlook. The Zarafa Collaboration Platform is the absolutely best solution for the connection with Outlook".

Since March 1, 2010 Zarafa has acquired more than 100 new partners in Germany and Austria. Examples of new partners are the well known German mail server specialist Heinlein Support, the appliance specialist SYS-Line Support, Zarafa's 1st Austrian Gold Partner Siedl Networks and the German groupware specialist it:25.

Together with these new partners Zarafa succeeded in migrating many customers to the Zarafa Collaboration Platform last year like the Erzbischöflisches Ordinariat München and the hospital Christophsbad.

    Ecosystem
At Zarafa's booth (Hall 2, D40), which size has doubled compared to last year, many partners will demonstrate their Zarafa experience and integrations: bitbone AG, Millenux GmbH, CatWorkx GmbH, Inett GmbH, it25 GmbH and Mars Solutions GmbH.

bitbone AG will announce its new community project 'yaffas', the open source version of an user friendly administration interface which will be the base for Z-Admin, the upcoming administration interface for Zarafa.

Innovations highlighted by open source opinion leaders
Zarafa will exhibit many technical innovations like the Zarafa Collaboration Platform 7.0 beta2 with unicode support, a new IMAP gateway, Z-Archiver with user-transparent message archiving and the mobile platform Z-Push with public folder synchronization.

Steve Hardy, CTO at Zarafa, will also present the results of research into the I/O performance of MySQL in typical enterprise setups. This new development can improve total disk throughput by more than 100% in certain cases. Mark Callaghan of Facebook says: "This is very interesting. My workload has too much concurrency already so I am most interested in the change to make records_in_range do less IO".
