CCE Extends Support for Parallel Processing in Its CATIA and NX ODX Libraries
Forecasting Significant User Productivity Gains.
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) May 12, 2016 - CCE, a leading provider in advanced interoperability technology and engineering services, has released updates of its Open Data Exchange (ODX) libraries.
Parallel processing support has been extended for CATIA and NX; this feature enables applications to import and export documents in multiple threads.
To elaborate, CCE's ODX libraries are thread-safe; this allows applications to process multiple documents, simultaneously. This increases user productivity in many ways, such as:
Users can process multiple components of an assembly in parallel to enable faster loading of large assemblies.
Users can process multiple part/assembly files in batch mode for quicker translations.
Users can process different representations, such as lightweight (tessellated data) and geometry (B-rep) of a part, simultaneously.
"We want to empower application developers with the proper tools so that they can take advantage of today's powerful hardware, which contain multiple cores/processors. Enhancing our CATIA and NX ODX libraries to support parallel processing is a step in this direction," stated Vinay Wagle, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Currently, parallel processing, within ODX, is supported in the following formats:
CATIA V5 (read and write)
NX (read and write)
SOLIDWORKS (read and write)
Creo (read)

About Open Data Exchange (ODX)
Open Data Exchange (ODX) libraries read & write Native CAD data. File formats that are currently supported for ODX include CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, NX, Inventor, SOLIDWORKS, Pro/ENGINEER (PTC CreoŽ), JT, Solid Edge, Parasolid, IGES, STEP, 3D PDF, VDA, & STL. Applications developed using ODX libraries are independent of CAD. The libraries written in C & C++ are easy to implement & follow software releases via continuous updates. Apart from licensing the library components, we also provide integrations services to integrate our libraries into customer applications. The true benefit of using our ODX libraries is the reduced cost to the user. Our ODX libraries do not require CAD software or licenses, which can be quite costly. ODX gives the user the ability to read & write native CAD files without the cost of ownership associated with the CAD system.
