CBC Foundation To Honor The O'Jays During Annual Legislative Conference
The CBCF will honor the legendary group The O'Jays during it's annual conference.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) September 08, 2011 - The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) and its longstanding partner - the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses - will recognize the decades-long musical contributions of "the mighty, mighty O'Jays," as well as students pursuing careers and opportunities in the performing and visual arts from 8:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m., during the Annual Celebration of Leadership in the Fine Arts on September 21 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.
The Celebration of Leadership program will kick off the fundraising/scholarship activities as part of CBCF's 41st Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from September 21-24. The evening has a long-standing tradition of honoring the significant contributions of individuals in the visual and performing arts .It also pays homage to those who have influenced our history and inspired generations. The ultimate purpose of this event is to raise scholarship funds for students who have demonstrated an exceptional level of talent in the arts.
The O'Jays have been performing for more than 50 years and have an international recording history with such hits as "Back Stabbers," "For The Love Of Money," "Darlin' Darlin' Baby," "Love Train," "I Love Music," and "Use Ta Be My Girl." The Foundation will recognize the O'Jays with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
More than 175 performing and visual arts students applied for the Foundation's performing and visual arts scholarship programs. Twenty students will receive scholarships; 10 as performing arts students and 10 as visual arts students. Scholarship recipients are expected to perform at the event.
