Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County Opens Walk-In Counselling Clinic in Collingwood
Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County is pleased to announce the opening of a new walk-in counselling clinic in Collingwood. The clinic will open its doors on December 6th , with an official media launch between 12:00 - 1:00 pm. This marks the sixth location for the organization in Simcoe County. This is thanks in large part to the financial support of the United Way of South Georgian Bay.
- (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2012 - The new Collingwood Clinic will be open on the first and third Thursday of every month from 1:00 - 7:00 pm. The clinic can be found in the same building as Community Connections, located at 275 First Street. At the Collingwood location individuals, couples and families will be able to benefit from single-session counselling. One session is often enough to help someone set a course of action, as well as, learn how and where to access helpful community resources as they move forward.
CFSSC has been successfully operating walk-in clinics in Alliston, Bradford, Barrie, Midland and Orillia since 2009. During a walk-in session, which lasts about an hour, a counsellor helps an individual, couple or family work through some of life's toughest challenges. Common issues include: grief and loss, depression and anxiety, life transitions and abuse.
People who have attended CFSSC clinics in other communities have shared that the experience helped them to understand the cause of their problem better. The clinics have also helped to reduce the stress they felt and identify more effective coping strategies for dealing with the issue.
The walk-in clinics are open to anyone, regardless of religious affiliation or financial status, living in Simcoe County. Counselling is provided on a sliding fee scale based on household income and family size. Subsidies are made available for those who qualify. This is thanks to the charity's funders, donors and local supporters.
CFSSC relies on the backing of supporters and the local community especially this time of year. As the holidays fast approach the stress of family, finances and health that many struggle with in Simcoe County can be more than they can bear. The organization needs financial support to continue to help struggling families and individuals learn how to cope. CFSSC hopes to be able to add a clinic in Wasaga Beach and are looking for space to make this happen sometime in the New Year.
According to Michelle Bergin, Acting Executive Director of CFSSC, the charity is "Eager to open the doors to the Collingwood Clinic. As the demand for help continues to rise we rely on the backing of our funders, donors and local community to help those who are struggling. The goal of our new clinic is to help reach more people by providing accessible services in their own community."
Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County is a Catholic sponsored non-profit charitable organization. In the spirit of hope and compassion, CFSSC together with community partners is committed to providing professional counselling, education and advocacy to heal and strengthen family and individual life.
