Casey Gerry Associate Lauded With County Bar New Lawyer Service Award
Jessica Klarer Pride Lauded for Outstanding Community Service Work.
- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) April 17, 2012 - Jessica Klarer Pride, an associate attorney with San Diego-based Casey Gerry, will be honored for Outstanding Service by a New Lawyer at the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Annual Law Week Luncheon 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, at The Westin San Diego downtown.
The award is given each year by SDCBA to a new lawyer who has demonstrated a significant commitment to serving the legal community via legal education, mentoring or community service efforts.
According to David Casey Jr., senior managing partner of Casey Gerry, Pride is a well deserving recipient of this accolade. "Jessica is passionate about the law and dedicated to her work," said Casey. "She is one of those young attorneys who believes that supporting her community means much more than simply providing free legal advice and shows that in each and every thing she gives back."
With a practice emphasizing products and premises liability and serious personal injury cases, including sexual assault, Pride has participated in more than 300 cases in which she has helped obtain more than $6 million in verdicts and settlements. She is fluent in Spanish and works closely with the firm's Hispanic clientele.
A longtime community contributor, Pride is involved with the Center for Community Solutions, which assists victims of sexual assault and relationship violence. She has undergone sexual assault and domestic violence training so she can assist at the organization's legal clinic with civil matters and provide legal consultation on a pro bono basis. Other projects in which she has been involved include helping to rebuild homes devastated by Hurricane Katrina with fellow members of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), working with Wills for Heroes to draft wills for Police Officers and coaching teens at Helix High School for a mock trial.
In addition, she is treasurer of the Young Lawyer's Division of the American Association for Justice. She participates in the AAJ group's annual community outreach programs and also is a board member and co-chair of the women's caucus of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. She was elected by her peers three times to serve as a board member for the San Diego County Bar Association, New Lawyers Division and is a member of Lawyers Club of San Diego and La Raza Lawyers Association. Additionally, she was involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and speaks annually to University of San Diego law students about the importance of getting involved in the community.
She received her J.D. from USD School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from UC Irvine and worked at Girardi and Keese in Los Angeles prior to joining Casey Gerry as a law clerk in 2006. Pride was also a certified intern at the USD School of Law Civil Clinic and has received training from the California Academy of Mediation Professionals as a mediator.
