Going forward, each constituent part of the new group will retain its brand and position in the market. There will be a pooling of resources in the production of books and in sales and marketing that will substantially enhance the group's ability to deliver excellence and efficiency to our customers and for our distribution clients.
Oxbow proprietary titles and those of Oxbow's and David Brown Book Company's distribution clients will gain immediate access to Casemate's established, highly successful and burgeoning eBook program which will lead to an immediate and substantial increase in both the profile and sales for their books in this highly important and growing market.
The new group will cover a wide range of subjects, all within the humanities stretching from the ancient world to the modern day, in both trade and academic publishing and distribution.
Casemate president, David Farnsworth, expressed great satisfaction at the successful conclusion of this transaction.
"The world of bookselling is in a state of great upheaval right now with traditional methods of reaching the market changing rapidly.
By bringing Casemate and Oxbow together, we are able to deploy the complete range of selling options, from eBooks to mail-order, from selling at conferences and society meetings to selling to large chain store retailers and everything in between. By marketing to and selling in both the trade and the academic market, both constituent companies will benefit from access to and the expertise in each other's traditional markets leading to growth for both.
With this transaction, we have a major opportunity to build a new kind of specialist publishing and distribution company and I think by doing so can create a highly effective vehicle to benefit from and to exploit the great possibilities that exist in our fast changing world of bookselling."
