CARTES & IDentification 2011 places Turkey in the spotlight
CARTES & IDentification, the international digital security and smart-technologies event, will be held from 15 to 17 November 2011 at the Parc des Expositions exhibition centre in Paris. The event covers digital security, smart technology and contactless payments.
- (1888PressRelease) June 02, 2011 - Now in its 26th year, CARTES has established itself as the key event in the sector, where suppliers can meet decision makers in the areas of payment, security, telecoms, electronics, information technology, administration and distribution. Companies from across 142 countries will take part in this year's CARTES & IDentification, which demonstrates how dynamic the market is.
With the deployment of contactless technology, the advent of Near-Field Communications (NFC) terminals for payment by mobile phone and the growing need for security in electronic transactions and innovative financial services, the payment-card industry will be at the forefront of the development and sharing of new technology solutions in 2011. Contactless payment will be the subject of a round-table discussion, which will be held during the trade show's launch presentation on 26 May at 9am in the Hotel Park Hyatt Paris Vendôme, in the French capital.
Several factors have contributed to the development of identification technologies, including the introduction of electronic identity cards in Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, digital-identity projects, as well as the fight against cybercrime. This event provides companies with the opportunity to showcase the latest innovations in biometrics and authentication solutions.
M2M applications and the Internet of Things will once again present new business opportunities for those visiting the trade show. Millions of machines already communicate with each other and M2M technology is set to grow even more over the coming years.
Home automation, smart meters and the management of health records require greater protection of private data, integrity control and strong authentication of secure data and over-the-air applications.
Turkey offers numerous avenues for development in the sector. Turkey currently is the leading European market for ATMs, up 40% over the last five years in terms of cards produced. The Turkish market has also seen the introduction of new contactless solutions and loyalty programmes.Top buyers, specific focus areas within the trade show and new partners will all be part of the focus on Turkey at CARTES & IDentification 2011.
Turkey has already proved its ability for innovation in the field of smart cards, which is a rapidly growing sector in the country. The payment industry in Turkey offers a wealth of potential. The adoption of contactless technology is growing in urban areas and looks set to continue to develop as banks compete to win over the growing urban youth market.
CARTES & IDentification will feature a three-day conference where 1,300 delegates will discuss the latest technical developments, marketing and strategy and listen to feedback on case studies. The 140 presentations on NFC and contactless payment, card security, debit and credit cards, card manufacturing, identification and M2M applications are the best way to assess the market and a key addition to visiting the stands. Over the years, the conference has become the forum of choice for communication between leading industrialists and international decision makers.
The opening presentation at the trade show will feature leading CEOs in the sector. They will share their vision of the market and their views on the future of the industry, while Eurosmart (the association representing the smart-security industry) will exclusively announce its latest figures. This presentation, which is one of the conference's highlights, attracted more than 400 people last year.
CARTES will also host the SESAMES awards, which act as a promotional springboard and represent a global badge of innovation for smart-card and identification-systems manufacturers. The awards offer winners status and credibility in the sector, which can contribute to a project's success.
The awards, which are selected by a panel of experts, reward the best projects across a variety of categories such as hardware, software, ID cards, computer security, transportation, banking and business loyalty, mobility, internet authentication, e-transactions, production and tests. The competition is open to all innovation projects from relevant sectors and continues to attract an increasing number of candidates. In 2010, 395 projects were submitted, with 10 winners.
The Steering Committee of CARTES & IDentification is composed of leading companies in the digital card-security and identification sectors such as Ask, Gemalto, Giesecke & Devrient, HID, Infineon, Ingenico, Morpho, NXP, Oberthur Technologies, ST Microelectronics and Visa.
