CARTES 2012 examines mobile payments and security in the Cloud
CARTES 2012 Exhibition and Conference (formerly CARTES and IDentification) will take place in Paris (France) from 6 to 8 November 2012. The two main themes of the leading smart-technologies event will be mobile payments and security in the Cloud, with India as the special guest nation.
- (1888PressRelease) June 09, 2012 - "Mobile Payment and Security in the Cloud are two of the major challenges facing smart technologies, and authentication in particular, over the next five years. As CARTES is the industry's key event in terms of trends and innovative technological solutions, it was obvious to us that these fundamental developments had to take a central role at [CARTES 2012]," explains Isabelle Alfano, Director of the CARTES show.
The 2012 CARTES Exhibition and Conference, which was formerly known as CARTES and IDentification, will take place at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre in the French capital, from 6 to 8 November 2012.
On 12 June 2012, there will be a press conference for the launch of CARTES 2012 which will take place at the Pershing Hall in Paris, from 10am to midday. During this conference the new features of CARTES 2012 will be unveiled and a round table on the Interconnected Commerce and New Payments Landscape will be organised, where physical, electronic and mobile payments will be discussed.
On 5 November, the SESAMES Awards ceremony will take place. These awards reward the technical innovations that spearhead the chip-card, digital-security, secure-transactions, identification and contactless sectors. The SESAMES Awards are now deemed, by industry professionals, to represent uncontested global recognition for innovations in the smart-technology industry.
On 6 November 2012, the World Card Summit will take place. This is the inaugural conference of CARTES 2012 that will be attended by senior executives from leading smart-technology and digital-security companies.
The two key themes that will be discussed at CARTES 2012 - mobile payments and security in the Cloud - were chosen in response to current industry challenges.
Smartphone use grew in 2011, with a significant increase in the popularity of mobile-banking applications and an unprecedented number of initiatives in the mobile-payments field. However, there are numerous challenges still to be faced if such systems are to spread further. Close collaboration between various players involved in mobile payments, such as bankers, telephone operators, telephone and payment-terminal manufacturers, service suppliers, aggregators and merchants, is essential. The Mobile Payment Pavilion at CARTES 2012 will be specifically dedicated to mobile-payment stakeholders.
Security will be Cloud computing's priority in 2012. The exponential growth of Cloud services and the proliferation of connected portable devices are an excellent reason to revisit the confidence, security and interoperability issues relating to increasingly mobile access to data, applications and services in the Cloud. Companies involved in the smart security industry and in IT security, their suppliers and their partners will exhibit in CARTES' new area: Security in the Cloud.
India offers considerable development potential for digital security technologies with its major national financial-inclusion and biometric-identification projects, and has consequently been chosen as CARTES 2012's special guest country. An Indian pavilion, conference speakers and visitor delegations will bring developments in the country to the fore during CARTES 2012.
CARTES is the world's leading smart-technologies event dedicated to the latest trends and innovations in security, payments, identification and mobility. Each year, the trade show brings together 430 exhibitors, 79% of whom come from outside France, 20,000 visitors and 1,300 conference participants.
