The 24th Annual Trends and Issues in Logistics and Transportation Study will be conducted by Dr. Karl Manrodt, Professor in the Department of Management at Georgia College and State University, and Dr. Mary Holcomb, Associate Professor of Logistics at University of Tennessee Knoxville. Other sponsors include The University of Tennessee, Georgia College and State University, Coyote Logistics and Logistics Management Magazine. The highly anticipated study, which surveys hundreds of industry professionals, reveals the most comprehensive summary of the issues and trends shaping the current state of the transportation and logistics industry. The findings will be reported in the September issue of Logistics Management.
For the first time, Dr. Manrodt and Dr. Holcomb will also be partnering with the JOC Group, a subsidiary of IHS that include The Journal of Commerce and JOC.com, to offer an additional survey to expand the breadth of responses from shippers and transportation proviers, adding to the report's importance to industry stakeholders. The report will be released at the Council of Supply Chain Management's annual conference, Sept. 27-30 in San Diego, and covered extensively in The Journal of Commerce and on JOC.com in September and October. It will receive further distribution to approximately 500 attendees at the JOC Inland Distribution Conference, Oct. 6-8, in Memphis, Tenn. The presentation will focus on how the issues facing carriers and shippers have created a "tug of war" between the two parties as they struggle to collaborate amid disparate business objectives, and then reveal five rules they developed for how to "win" in the tug of war environment.
