Carlsbad Prepares To Roll Out Red Carpet For New World-class Tennis Tournament
The 2015 Carlsbad Classic presented by GoMacro, a WTA 125k Series Event, will be held November 21- November 29 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.
- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2015 - The Carlsbad Classic presented by GoMacro, a WTA 125k Series Event, is preparing to roll out the red carpet for its world class tennis tournament held November 21- November 29, 2015 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, in Carlsbad, Calif.
Construction begins this August at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort on a new center court. The hard court will be 70 feet wide and 130 feet long. Seating will be added to accommodate 40,000 spectators during the week long tournament.
Elina Svitolina, ranked number 17 in the world, and other top-ranked WTA players will join rising athletes to include a 32-player singles main draw, an 8-player qualifying draw and an 8-team doubles draw.
American-Idol finalist Kimberly Caldwell will host the Carlsbad Classic for all day and night sessions. Caldwell will perform live during the Players Gala on Sunday, November 22. The Players Gala will include a silent auction to benefit Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue kidnapped children from slavery.
This is the first WTA tournament held after the U.S. Open in the United States. It is also the first tournament of its kind to be held during the week of Thanksgiving.
