Caribbean Catering Academy Supplies Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee
Sea Island Coffee served at Conservative Party Conference by Birmingham based Catering Academy, the Caribbean Catering Academy.
- (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2011 - The Prime Minister's Office announced that the Caribbean Catering Academy based in Aston, Birmingham, would be one of nine entrepreneurial initiatives to win a place at the 'Start-Up Hub' taking place at the 128th Conservative Party Conference in October 2011. The Academy was selected from a nationwide competition run by the Conservative Party to find "the brightest and best entrepreneurs" to exhibit and showcase their ideas.
The Academy is the brainchild of Kajans Women's Enterprise Ltd, a Birmingham based social enterprise with over fifteen years experience of providing opportunities in Aston, one of Britain's most deprived wards.
The Academy aims to provide opportunities for employment in the food industry by training young people, aged 16-24, as well as offering accreditation for established caterers through work-based assessments. Working with established training partners the Academy aims to create concessionary opportunities for individual entrepreneurs wishing to establish SME's in Caribbean catering in Birmingham and beyond. Accreditation for all our courses will be provided by the University College Birmingham using a range of certification bodies.
The Academy approached Sea Island Coffee about supplying Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee for the thirsty and sleep deprived MPs and we were only too happy to support this fantastic new enterprise.
The Caribbean Academy drew a large amount of attention at the Conservative Party Conference with over a thousand delegates trying Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, as well as this distinguished coffee being served at the Launch Dinner attended by the Leader of Birmingham City Council.
