  • (1888PressRelease) December 21, 2011 - Washington Health Care Association (WHCA) and aQuire Training Solutions launched their new jointly offered CarePro course designed to help senior care providers meet the new training requirements that Washington State residents passed in Initiative 1163 this fall.

Voters in Washington State again affirmed their belief that caregivers who provide care for elderly and disabled should have a higher level of training and testing than previously required. For many providers, completing all 75 hours of required training presents challenges of time and trainer availability, as well as cost. To help fill this need, Washington Health Care Association staff have been working with state officials to create a full, turn-key training program that will meet these new requirements. For the online course component, WHCA selected aQuire Training Solutions, a national e-learning company with extensive expertise in training caregivers at all levels. The result is the CarePro program which blends the very best in e-learning with classroom education for skills and special population training.

The new CarePro program will be offered through approved CarePro Partners. These CarePro Partners are organizations who will be using the CarePro online course in their overall program of approved training. CarePro Partners not only have quick, easy access to the online course that provides 50 of the 75 hours of required training, but they also have the full tech support from aQuire's online education team and best practices support from the education staff at WHCA for their entire CarePro training program.

New caregivers taking the CarePro online course will learn about the work of a caregiver, ethics and personal rights, how to promote greater independence in clients, how to handle difficult situations and behaviors, the basics of body systems and common disease processes, how to provide personal care, fundamentals of safety and mobility, skin care, taking vital signs, providing medication assistance and ways to reduce their own stress as caregivers, among other topics. In addition, caregivers will receive an in-depth lesson on client-focused communication as well as mandatory HIV/AIDS training.
