  • Provo-Orem, UT (1888PressRelease) December 21, 2013 - Career Step, an online school offering career-focused education, will donate $5,500 to the National Military Family Association in celebration of National Military Family Appreciation Month. The donation is a result of a November donation drive through Career Step's Referral Program, and the money will go to the Operation PurpleŽ program, which has helped nearly 48,000 children who have or have had a deployed parent.

"This is the second year in a row that we've worked with our referrers to donate to Operation PurpleŽ in celebration of National Military Family Appreciation month," said Career Step Military Liaison Tim Reynolds. "Military families sacrifice so much, and we're very proud to support them through initiatives like this donation drive as well as participation in the MyCAA education funding program and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership."

Career Step managed the donation drive through its Referral Program and will be donating $50 for every new student who enrolled in November and was referred by someone else.

"Military children are experiencing stress and anxiety at levels as much as 2.5 times that of other children, and our Operation PurpleŽ camps are designed to help by teaching them ways to cope, introducing them to others in similar situations, and providing a fun outlet," said Joyce Raezer, Executive Director. "We are so grateful to Career Step for their support because it will allow us to help more children and families."

Run by the National Military Family Association, the Operation PurpleŽ program offers a free week of summer fun for military kids with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. The goal of the Operation PurpleŽ camp program is to give military children tools to help deal with the stresses that result from a parent's deployment through a memorable camp experience. Operation PurpleŽ camps fully embrace being "purple" by being open to military children of all ranks and services and from both active and reserve components.
