Career Step Releases New Infographic for Military Spouses Considering Career Changes
Career Step has published a new infographic providing guidance on choosing a career as a military spouse as well as advice on choosing a military-friendly education program.
- (1888PressRelease) June 10, 2014 - Career Step, an online school providing career-focused education, has published a new infographic providing tips for military spouses considering a career change. The infographic provides guidance on choosing a career as a military spouse as well as advice on choosing a military-friendly education program.
"We have worked with over 12,500 military spouses over the years, and serving the military community is a huge part of who we are as a school," said Tim Reynolds, Career Step Military Liaison. "The Department of Defense reports that over 85% of military spouses want or need work, and we help those who are trying to get the education they need to secure a successful career. We have created this infographic to provide a shareable resource that can provide direction for spouses trying to decide on a career path."
The Department of Defense also reports that military spouses earn 25% less than their civilian peers. These career challenges are attributed to the frequent relocations typical of the military lifestyle. Moving every two to three years makes it challenging for military spouses to gain experience and tenure with a company, and employers may also be hesitant to hire a candidate who may leave in two years or less.
Despite these challenges, military spouses can secure a rewarding career as there are certain career fields that are more friendly than others to the military lifestyle. Career Step's new infographic provides guidance on qualities military spouses should take into consideration as they are choosing a career, such as portability, licensing and certification, and where opportunities are available.
"There are great career options out there that are well suited to the military lifestyle," said Ryan Ewer, Vice President of Enrollments and Marketing. "Our goal is to help military spouses nationwide find these careers more readily, or at the very least have a little more guidance on the things they should take into consideration as they are deciding on a career path. Our new infographic is designed to simplify this information and make it more accessible for the military community."
Career Step's online training programs are ideal for military spouses because, with the online format, spouses can study at the pace and on the schedule that works for them and the available programs focus on in-demand career fields that have opportunities nationwide. Career Step's programs are also approved for MyCAA education funding, which offers $4,000 to cover career education costs for eligible spouses.
