- Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2011 - The Jim Thorpe Rotary Youth Sports Association (JTRYSA), Lehighton Area Soccer Club (LASC), Panther Valley Youth Soccer Association (PVYSA), and Towamensing Soccer Club (TSC) will come together on November 5 for the first annual Carbon County Cup tournament. Young soccer players under the age of 12 will come from all four country clubs will compete for the honor of holding the championship cup for one year. A cup will be awarded to the top U6, U8, U10 and U12 teams in the county. The games will take place at the Beltzville State Park soccer fields.
"Because we're all recreational leagues, we don't put a big emphasis on winning," said JTRYSA Board President Joe Galvin. "That makes the game a lot of fun for players of all skill levels. But we also want to encourage our young players to compete to win. That's what this new tournament will be about."
In addition to the cups that each division's top team will take home, players from all first place teams will get gold medals. Silver and bronze medals will be awarded to all second and third place teams.
