  • (1888PressRelease) February 04, 2017 - The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has published the latest revision of its advisory on labelling requirements for composite wood products. Advisory number 384, dated November 2016, applies to panel manufacturers, fabricators of finished goods, and importers, distributors and retailers of panels and finished goods.

The revised advisory contains several important changes, including:
    • Information to be included on the label for panel manufacturers and fabricators of finished goods
    • The use of language to reflect the latest implementation of the law

The 2016 revision of minimum information requirements for panel manufacturers, fabricators of finished goods and importers, distributors and retailers of panels and finished goods, updates a previous advisory from July 2009.

CARB approved the Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) in April 2007 to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood panels. The standards were implemented in two phases - Phase 1 in January 2009 and Phase 2 in 2010-2012. ATCM covers hardwood plywood-veneer core (HWPW-VC), hardwood plywood-composite core (HWPW-CC), particleboards (PBs) and medium-density fiberboards (MDFs).
