- (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2012 - At the beginning there were four Cedric Sparkman, Laurence Adams, Jason Matuskiewicz and Chris Infusino. They were the only purveyor of dreamrock on planet Earth. But what is Dreamrock, you say? Isn't that a made-up word? Dreamrock: Essentially it is a combination of post-punk and shoegaze with 1960's psych-pop, 1980's post punk, 1990's post hardcore and 2000's indie rock reminiscent of the works by Real Estate, The Replacements, Neu, Kraftwerk, Bright Eyes, The Chameleons, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Flaming Lips and Neutral Milk Hotel all making out in one super-awesome rock make out party.
"A New Life", their debut album, in June 2011 has picked up coverage from BBC 6 Introducing. Teaming up with boy genius and super producer, Justin Craig, the band make their second album "Physic Dissonance For The Unself" to be released on 13th of September 2012 mixed by Justin Craig, who previous work includes Vandaveer, Stephen Trask and These United States whilst mastered by T.J. Lipple who has mastered work by of Montreal, MGMT and Destroyer and many many more. Effortlessly coherent its a massive step forward in the bands musical progression the songs bear a simplicity to match by no means minimal their full of cycling guitar, and rolling rhythm.
"This is dreamrock, plain and simple. Fresh, fuzzy, lush, vibrant, psychedelic dreamrock. We might be dealing with the next chillwave here folks, so strap yourselves in: summer 2012 is officially here." NewDust
"Candidate's release penetrates the requirement for dynamic shifts by keeping a steady pulse and a relentless attitude that shines of condensed thought. It's always good when you can't pick favorites on a dual release which is exactly the case." Dingus
"Their music is reminiscent of the type 80s college radio alternative pop played by the Feelies and Pylon. The band describes their sound as "anthemic, hook-laden rock 'n' roll with generous helpings of melody," and that's pretty accurate" Songs Of The Day
" Candidate creates a heavy melodic tune that appeals to the angsty teenager in all of us. 8/10" InYourSpeakers.com
