Campaign Brings Solar Awareness To America's Small Communities
Global Solar Center establishes a network to educate communities on the benefits of solar energy with a free personalized service. In a climate full of disinformation, SolarBlox seeks to provide the public with a standardized method of learning about solar energy based on something they are inherently familiar with: their own property.
- (1888PressRelease) July 16, 2010 - SolarBlox, a community-based program, serves to generate awareness for solar energy in various towns across the nation, picking up where the mainstream media leaves off. The program is a means for anyone who is interested in learning more about solar to obtain a personalized look at how solar can transform their lives, whether they are a homeowner, a business, or a non-profit organization.
This new program, launched by Global Solar Center, hopes to show that when technology converges with initiative, human nature can be a powerful force. Representatives speak with people in their communities to find out if they are interested in learning more about solar and how much a solar system installation would cost. They then direct the individual to Global Solar Center's website (http://www.globalsolarcenter.com/), who in turn provides them with a free solar quote for their property by entering in a few details about their location and energy bill. If the person is interested in pursuing a solar system, Global Solar Center connects them with a high-quality, local solar installer for a free on-site evaluation of their property.
Andrew Chabot, Director of the SolarBlox outreach program says, "We have a whole spectrum of members contributing to our central mission of making solar easy for everyone through unbiased education about the true costs and benefits of going solar. Members have really put themselves out there and to speak to everyone they meet about solar, really showing us a level of dedication we were not expecting to see."
The idea behind SolarBlox stems from the common wisdom that people rely on their friends, family, and acquaintances for much of what they learn about the world. In order to ensure that people get accurate information regarding the realities of solar, Global Solar Center hopes that solar education can be accomplished on a local level.
