Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) February 19, 2011 - Camp Sagemont in its 14th season continues to reinvent itself every summer. The traditional day camp for PreK-3rd graders is always available, but there are so many new options to choose from, especially for older kids. Plus, now with the launch of the camps new website, parents can have the convenience of registering online.
Last summer was the first year for Sagemont's Adventure Camp. It was a huge success. "What appealed to campers were the adventurous field trips that were planned. The trips challenged campers, taught them how to enjoy outdoor activities and encouraged them to try new things that may have been intimidating at first," explains Camp Director Edwin Cruz. Campers experienced everything from mountain biking and rock climbing to go-karting and cable water skiing. "At the end of each activity, campers had a sense of accomplishment, improved self-confidence and self-esteem, and a stronger group bond."
Building on the success of Adventure Camp, this summer, a special week long Road Trip Adventure Camp will be offered. Campers will visit five Florida attractions at venues on the west coast, east coast and central Florida. Kids will travel on a coach bus with overnight lodgings and meal packages. Cruz says, "Campers will enjoy the road trip of a lifetime."
Other new summer camp offerings include Glee Camp and CSI Camp. According to Cruz, "With the popularity of television programs such as Glee and CSI, we wanted to push the envelope and offer these programs so that campers have the opportunity to sing and dance like the characters they see on Glee and be detectives and learn about crime scene investigation techniques as they would see on CSI."
These new camps are in addition to some of the popular existing camps such as Science Camp, Travel Camp and Art Camp. Camp Sagemont also offers a Summer School/Camp Combination as well as an ESL program.
For sports lovers, kids can choose from the very popular Sagemont Sports Camp or the All American Basketball School.
With all of these choices, Cruz says, "campers are not bound to participate in just one specific type of camp program, but rather they have the choice to pick and choose programs of interest. As the adage goes, variety is the spice of life."
Camp Sagemont will host a Camp Reunion and Open House on Sunday, March 27th from 1 to 4pm. Families are invited to stop by and see the campus, pool and athletics dome, plus meet the counselors and staff.
