South Camden Theatre Company Announces 10th season Featuring works by Arthur Miller, John Pielmeier, Joseph M. Paprzycki and August Wilson.
Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) March 10, 2014 - The South Camden Theatre Company, a nonprofit professional theatre organization located in Camden, New Jersey announces its tenth season titled "Faith". The season celebrates our rich past by producing four plays concerning the idea of faith as seen in works written by Arthur Miller, John Pielmeier, Joseph M. Paprzycki and August Wilson.
Opening the tenth season October 10 - 26, 2014 is BROKEN GLASS written by Arthur Miller and directed by Craig Hutchings. The Olivier award-winning drama takes place in Brooklyn in 1938 and weaves a gripping mystery of guilt, personal tragedy and love.
Starting January 9 - 25, 2015 is AGNES OF GOD written by John Pielmeier and directed by producing artistic director Joseph M. Paprzycki. The play is the story of a young nun who gave birth and claims the pregnancy was an immaculate conception. As baby is subsequently found dead a psychiatrist and a Mother Superior seek the truth behind the mystery of the father's identity.
FORTUNE COOKIES returns to stage February 27 - March 15, 2015. Written by Joseph M. Paprzycki and directed by Christopher "Jumbo" Schimpf. The play was originally produced in the basement of Sacred Heart Church in SCTC's third season. FORTUNE COOKIES is a play of dreams and fate has been the most requested play to be brought back to the stage with a full production that only SCTC can bring to the audience.
Season 10 closes with August Wilson's KING HEDLEY II running April 24 - May 10, 2015. Often thought of as the bitterest and most tragic of Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, the play focuses on the downfall of the prideful ex-con protagonist, King Hedley II, the son of one of the characters from his play SEVEN GUITARS. SCTC's second Wilson production will again be directed by SCTC favorite Connie Norwood.
Producing Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki states, "I wanted to bring together a season of plays that celebrate and examine faith in our world from all different viewpoints. Also, since this is our tenth season I wanted to produce our first Arthur Miller play, bring back August Wilson, open the huge debate given to us by AGNES OF GOD and bring back my own play FORTUNE COOKIES in a rich full production in our beautiful state-of-the-art home at Waterfront South Theatre. It is a season arranged to thank our loyal audience as well as open the door to new people who may have not yet discovered South Camden Theatre Company."
All performances will be held Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. at the 96-seat Waterfront South Theatre located at 400 Jasper Street in Camden, New Jersey. For more information about South Camden Theatre Company, please visit http://www.southcamdentheatre.org
