Cambridge E-Health Startup Opens In Tech City
Cambridge Healthcare Ltd, whose How are you? eHealth portal is set to revolutionise patient treatment, has added Tech City offices to its global operational footprint.
- (1888PressRelease) August 13, 2012 - The one-year-old startup has taken offices near Old Street at the heart of London's Silicon Roundabout.
The company started life in founder and CEO Dawson King's attic but has grown significantly in a little over 12 months.
It now has offices in Cambridge, London and Beijing - reflecting the international potential of its technology.
King, says the London office will help the business attract new engineering and design talent from the Tech City hotspot.
The move comes just a week after the company signed an exclusive licensing agreement that will see its technology adopted by China's largest consumer website and brand, Sina.com, with more than 500 million registered users - a third of China's population.
In the last two months, Cambridge Healthcare has grown headcount from four to 13 and is continuing to recruit in the UK.
In an exciting transatlantic venture, Cambridge Healthcare has been working closely with Microsoft Health on integrating the global giant's HealthVault solution into How are you? (howareyou.com). An announcement detailing the partnership is imminent.
King said: "This is a very exciting time for us as we transition from start-up to enterprise. Growing from a few hundred thousand users in the UK to more than 500 million within a couple of months is not just an engineering challenge but also an operational and HR one. We're facing similar growth to Facebook when it started.
"Our commitment to building an integrated care record is maturing as our health application platform starts to enable the integration of patient records with remote diagnostic and home healthcare devices; we have also now begun to develop applications focused at health professionals ready for our clinical portal launch in September."
Cambridge Healthcare recently won the Institute of Engineering and Technology Innovation Award for best IT Technology and HealthInvestor Award for IT innovator of the year. Its technology is provided 100 per cent free to NHS patients and healthcare professionals in England.
The company is working in partnership with the NHS and Connecting for Health to develop the howareyou.com e-Health portal for patients and healthcare professionals. The portal will integrate with the NHS IT infrastructure and provide the platform for an unlimited number of healthcare applications.
As well as providing an electronic personal health plan for patients, the company is creating the first ever healthcare application store, encouraging third parties - including medical technology companies and healthcare providers - to design an unlimited range of innovative, useful and high-quality applications.
