- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 03, 2012 - Callaghan Pump and Controls Inc. of Hackensack, NY was awarded the contract for 4 packaged pump systems located at 1 World Trade Center, the tallest building in the United States. The contract calls for 6 domestic water pumps to send water to the top of the building, which is not an easy feat. The pumps are capable of pumping 700 gallons a minute while moving the water 1617 feet up the entire building. The HVAC pumps pump just as high while supplying 400 gallons. We utilize the latest technology and materials on every project. This one includes 10 Variable speed drives, and all stainless steel piping on the Quantumflo packaged systems."

The pumps run at the slowest speed possible while delivering the correct amount of water, instead of running full speed all the time, which is how older pump systems worked. The building is being built for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
