Call For Entries-Oaxaca FilmFest Edition 4 Announced
Oaxaca FilmFest announces it's fourth edition, scheduled for November
16th-23rd, 2013 in Oaxaca, Mexico. The International Film Festival has expanded the program to include a total of 19 Categories and 33 Awards.
- (1888PressRelease) January 04, 2013 - Fresh off the success of Edition 3, Oaxaca FilmFest, touted as "Sundance South of The Border" is diving straight into season "número cuatro". This year brings some incredible expansion to the Festivals Lineup.
The international film festival was founded in the City of Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico, in 2010 and is a uniquely successful collaboration between the private and public sector.
In just three seasons the festival has:
*Grown to be one of the Largest International Film Festivals in Latin America.
*Discovered over a dozen films that have gone unto commercial success. Some of those films include A Lonely Place For Dying, Crebinsky, Irvine Welsh's Exctasy, La Soga, Lemon, Morterm, La Pantera Negra, and Tequila.
*Has created a Highly Competitive Script Writing Competition.
*Created "Pitch It" a unique platform that allows screenwriters to sell their scripts to industry executives around the globe.
*Conducted the longest University Rally (10 days over the entire state) ever.
*Rolled out Academia. A five day training program designed to enhance Festival Attendees self distribution skills.
*Developed Academia Exchange. A unique exchange between filmmakers and students.
*Partnership with NUFlick, that creates the Oaxaca FilmFest channel, allowing Filmmakers an outlet to distribute their films.
*Membership of the Mexican Film Festival Association (La Red mexicana de Festivales) and in 2013 will host the national conference.
*An official IMDB Film Festival.

In 2013, the Festival has made significant updates to the program.
The Festival remains committed to representing film from around the globe and will continue to allow all genres to participate. Narrative, Documentary, Experimental, Animation, Shorts, and Features are all part of the lineup.
However, in addition to the international competition this year the festival has created a competitive section specifically for films produced in The Americas (North-Central-South America and the Caribean), a Short Cycle dedicated specifically to Mexican Shorts, a Section for first time Filmmakers, competitive exhibition of Micro-Features (for films that are too long to be considered shorts and too short to considered features), and added three prizes to the annual Oaxaca FilmFest Official Script Writing Competition.
To ensure the Festival is accessible to all, submissions are free for all Mexican Filmmakers and submission fees for all categories start at just $15 USD.
This year Oaxaca FilmFest plans eight days of the highest quality of film being exhibited anywhere in the world today, an international script writer symposium, special events, tours of the region, academic opportunities, and of course the "infamous" Oaxaca FilmFest after parties.
