Call for applications - The Lepsien Art Foundation has started the tender process for the International Grant Program 2015/16 "Emerging Artists"
As every year the Lepsien Art Foundation is tendering the International Grant Program 2015/16 "Emerging Artists" for Fine Art.
- (1888PressRelease) March 23, 2015 - In total five grants will be awarded to international artists in the disciplines painting, sculpture and photography.
Run time
The International Grant Program for the year 2015/16 will start on the 1st of September 2015 and will run until the 31st of August 2016.
Application period
The official application period where artists can apply starts on the 1st of April 2015 and ends on the 15th of May 2015. The closing date has been brought forwards due to high numbers of applications of the previous year. Applications outside the tender period will not be considered valid.
Criteria for application
The candidates must have a degree from a recognized national or international art college/university and must have already gained some first public recognition (e.g. exhibitions, publications, etc.). Active students at the time of the application are excluded from the participation in the grant program. Applicants should not be older than 39 years at the time of applying for the grant program.

Program content
An integral part of the grant program is the provision of studio spaces in the Art House Düsseldorf, Germany (www.the-art-house.eu) where the awarded five artists will work together for the period of the program. Furthermore the program includes the production and publication of limited serigraphy art editions (Edition Lepsien Art Foundation) jointly with all grant holders. Furthermore a comprehensive annual catalogue will be published with the artevie publishing group. At the end of the grant program a joint exhibition of all artists will take place in the Art House Düsseldorf, Germany. In addition the grant holders become a part of the network of the Lepsien Art Foundation and can establish contacts to other artists, art lovers, galleries and others. The Lepsien Art Foundation is taking from each artist two art works into the permanent collection which will be made available to public through exhibitions and catalogues in future.
Aim of the program
The aim of the International Grant Program it to provide sustainable support to the most talented emerging artists from all over the world and to build cultural bridges between Europe and the Middle East. The artists of the International Grant Program do all stand out through their distinctive personality, a clear and outstanding artistic language and by an unconventional approach in their discipline.
Selection process
All received applications will be reviewed and evaluated in accordance to clear criteria (e.g. university degree, development and quality of the art work, character and statement in the artistic language, experiences with exhibitions, catalogues etc., projects). During the last tender process for the grant program 2014/15 hundreds of highly professional applications were received by the Lepsien Art Foundation from professional artists from all over the world.
Information
All applicants being preselected for the shortlist will be invited for a telephone/skype interview. The five awardees will be officially informed in writing the latest by the 1st of August 2015 about their nomination for the grant program 15/16.
Art Patronage
Out of the five grant holders one artist has the opportunity to receive the Art Patronage Programme (APP) as a continuous support after the International Grant Program. The program is targeting artists whose works proved to be of outstanding excellence and significant importance. APP-Holders receive a highly flexible support framework, customized towards their specific needs. The APP is construed to support the artist in his daily work, special projects or other topics in order to further extend the opportunities of the artist.
