California Firm Awarded National Federal Project
LTC Education Specialists has been selected to support the national long term care (LTC) education initiative for Federal employees and their families.
- (1888PressRelease) April 08, 2011 - The aging of America has helped a California firm win its largest contract ever. LTC Education Specialists has been selected to support the national long term care (LTC) education initiative for Federal employees and their families.
"This is one time I don't mind being an aging Baby Boomer," said LTC Education Specialists' Founder and Executive Director Don Grimes.
With more than 225,000 enrollees, the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) is the largest group long term care insurance plan in the United States. Participants include active and retired Federal employees, active and retired members of the military, and their families
LTC Education Specialists will be conducting approximately 600 plus educational classes at 250 events nationwide during Open Season. LTC Education Specialists will help more than 30,000 Federal employees understand:
• What is Long Term Care (LTC)
• The three places people can learn more about LTC
• Who pays for LTC
• Who does not pay for LTC
• The roles of Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance
The 2011 Open Season for Federal employees is the first of its kind since the program's inception nine years ago. Grimes was part of the original implementation team for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) in 2002. Serving as a contractor, Grimes was a representative of the U.S. Office of Personal Management (OPM), which acts as a human resources department for the Federal Government. As an OPM representative, he helped conduct what turned out to be the largest public education effort on long term care in U.S. history.
"It's an honor to have my company selected to support this current national LTC education effort for Federal employees and their families," said Grimes. "We have seen a real increase in the demand for our information, which has meant a rise in the amount of LTC training we provide. I believe the extensive experience we bring to the table in this new partnership will result in a win-win for all involved."
Paul Forte, Chief Executive Officer of Long Term Care Partners, LLC which administers the FLTCIP, agrees, "America is aging at a rapid rate. More and more individuals are faced with the need to care for elderly parents which means a growing need for LTC education. LTC Education Specialists is well-equipped to meet the needs of our Federal employees, retirees and their families and we are delighted to be working with them."
The FLTCIP Open Season is from April 4, 2011 through June 24, 2011 and is the first abbreviated underwriting opportunity (applicants will answer fewer health questions) for non-enrolled applicants since 2002.
