California amends Prop 65 warning methods
SGS publishes SafeGuardS detailing California’s updated Prop 65 warning methods.
- (1888PressRelease) January 03, 2025 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 177.24 to keep stakeholders informed about California’s long-anticipated amendment to its Proposition 65 (Prop 65) safe harbor warning methods.
The California Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the amendments on November 26, 2024. The amendment will revise various sections of the warning methods under Article 6 to Chapter 1 of Division 4 of Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations.
The most significant change is that the information displayed on the short-form warning label must now carry at least one identified chemical, the same as the long-form version. This will make short-form labels more informative to consumers.
SGS publishes SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 177.24 provides a detailed overview of the amendment, including highlights of the changes and a table with examples of clear and reasonable warnings.
Stakeholders are advised to review SafeGuardS 177.24 to stay informed.
