Cacaoweb To Officially Distribute Wikileaks Cablegate
Cacaoweb, one of the most popular one-click file hosting services in the world, has annonced today that it is distributing the official version of Wikileaks' "cablegate" files through its P2P hosting service.
- (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2010 - CANBERRA - AU -- This move comes after the DNS provider of Wikileaks - EasyDNS - has shut down Wikileaks' domain name after being pressured by the United States government to do so, the hosting provider of Wikileaks - Amazon - outed Wikileaks out of their cloud service for the same reason, and the backup hosting provider of Wikileaks - OVH - was annonced by the French governement to have terminated their hosting contract for Wikileaks as well, by command from their american overlords.
Cacaoweb has annonced that they will host and advertise the file as long as Wikileaks doesn't find a suitable DNS provider and a hosting provider able to sustain the pressure from western governments. Cacaoweb's spokesman, Gerard Lantau, was quoted saying about cacaoweb's plans regarding Wikileaks files : "As a strong freedom of speech supporter, we will provide Wikileaks with the technical backup and know-how to help them overcome these difficult times. Our P2P hosting platform cannot be DDOSed, shut down or even slowed down, by any individual or any private or public organization. We usually don't interfere with governments related economic or political interests but this time i thought it was important to step up for the people at Wikileaks and Julian Assange, who are doing a great job at developing the Wikileaks brand and releasing material of exceptional importance. We will be happy to be part of this fight but we hope governments around the world will become more reasonable and will welcome this new opportunity to offer more transparency and less corruption to their citizens."
