Life in a shelter for abused women is hard to explain. The broken lives are scattered all around you in the shape of the other women and children that are staying in the same safe house as you are. It is somewhat like being in a college dormitory. Except nobody is laughing or smiling.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) April 24, 2016 - Cabot Corporation and their Alpharetta employees stepped up to help victims of domestic violence and their children in the community this year in time for mother's day. Through monetary donations and collections of donated items, we filled 50 shoeboxes. The shoe boxes to be distributed on Mother's day include shampoos, deodorants, bar soaps, hair brushes, wash cloths, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, and several other travel items to aid abused women and children on their way to safety.

The children have other children to play with that have gone through similar situations which is somehow comforting to them I believe. The news headlines are horrible, one wonders how in a civil society women and children are reduced to domestic violence statistics.
Our ladies are fleeing domestic violence with their children, some flee with bare minimum and when they arrive at the shelters they still need basic necessities. In order to address the basic needs while fleeing domestic violence The #Shoebox project was launched.
