C&M Wins 2011 Connecticut Quality Improvement Award
C&M Corporation, a vertically integrated manufacturer of bulk cable, coil cords, and cable assemblies, has announced receipt of a 2011 Innovation Prize from the Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership, Inc.
- (1888PressRelease) August 10, 2011 - C&M's Silver Level Award will be formally presented at the 24th annual Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Conference on Quality and Innovation, which will be held September 20, 2011, at the University of Hartford.
C&M earned the award for their submission entitled, "Individualizing Customer Service Plans in a Custom Manufacturing Environment". The submission outlines the development of C&M's "Create Value/Sell Value" concept, an innovative approach to defending major business activities from foreign competition using cross-functional customer focused teams. Even in a custom manufacturing environment where every product requires a service package not required by 'off the shelf' suppliers, C&M's team based, customer specific approach, was able to reduce leadtime, improve PPM, improve margin, and meet the new price targets established by the client.
The evaluation criteria used by the examiners is consistent with those used as part of the Malcolm Baldrige Award. The Baldrige Award, created by public law in 1987, is the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a United States' organization can receive. The seventeen year old CQIA Innovation Prize is Connecticut's entry level award on a process known as the Five Steps to the Baldrige.
Sheila Carmine, Founder and Executive Director of the 24-year old Connecticut Quality Improvement Award, relative to the Innovation Award, noted, "Even in an uncertain economy, C&M Corporation has shown that forward-looking organizations continue to introduce new products and services." She added that when told about this year's CQIA Innovation Prize recipients, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman wrote, "CQIA Innovation Prize recipients are exactly the kind of businesses - and the kind of people behind them - that our economy needs right now, and Governor Malloy and I are committed to helping them and CQIA succeed."
Mike Levesque, C&M's New Business Development Manager added, "It is certainly an honor to receive this award and I believe it speaks directly to the creativity and 'can do' attitude of the C&M team. When you review the entire list of award winners, it is clear innovation and creative thinking is alive and well in many great companies across Connecticut."
