This years Women's Power Breakfast will pull metro Detroit's most prominent female business and community leaders together to raise 2 million meals for hungry children in southeast Michigan.The funds raised from this years event wil benefit Gleaners' school-based programs, including: SmartBites, Weekend Back Pack and school-based mobile pantry distributions.
Record setting numbers expected for Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation's largest one-day food drive. Stamp Out Hunger is a partnership between the United States Postal Service, the National Association of Letter Carriers, and locally, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
Thousands of children in SE Michigan receive free or reduced fee meals during school. When summer vacation begins, many children find themselves without food. Forgotten Harvest and Gleaners Community Food Bank, together with corporate and community donors, announce the Hunger Free Summer campaign to ensure children receive the proper nourishment they need to learn and grow.
U of M Athletic Director David Brandon donates $10,000 prize from his incredible hole-in-one at the 7th annual Bernie Smilovitz Harvest Classic in support of Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. David's donation will provide 30 thousand meals alone. The annual golf outing has provided 2 million meals for hungry families.
